Extraction – A Netflix Original Film
A violent action thriller that lacks creativity and style. Chris Hemsworth, plays the role of Tyler Rake, a private soldier sent to Dhaka, Bangladesh, to rescue the abducted son of the biggest drug lord in India, played by renowned Bollywood actor Pankaj Tripathi, from the biggest drug lord in Bangladesh. The film goes back to work, delivering constant violence, blowing up vehicles, after a setup. The offenders all go into a cahoots with police, and the kingpin is up to his own cynical schemes.
This Netflix Original is the debut of Sam Hargrave, who has been the stunt coordinator for many of the Marvel Movies, we know and love. While not a superhero film, it follows the common incoherent morals of the genre. Tyler is a traditional good bad boy, who has certain negative actions, plagued by personal misfortune and rescued by his quest, even though he kills and shoots some teenage kids in the process of his mission. Along with Pankaj Tripathi, we also get to see Randeep Hooda in this film. Randeep Hooda plays Chris Hemsworth’s counter, a royal deputy whose cruelly successful brutality is inflected by his own sentimental undertone of patriarchal poignancy. David Harbor also appears momentarily, contributing to the film’s cast of miserable red-blooded men.

The World of Movies Rating of Extraction Movie – 7/10
Sam Hargrave’s debut film dishes up a storm of gunshots and blown-up vehicles in a genuinely regional thriller. This film is not a perfect cinema watch but can be recommended if you are a fan of gruesome action. The action scenes do seem artificial but the gore is shown in a candid way. However, Hargrave mistakes that for art , along with that the choreography of these scenes are way too long and feel like something out of “Call of Duty” or “PubG”. The admirable thing that Hargrave does with the film is, he keeps it in one geographical location and not much bouncing around from country to country, given the talent he has from all over the globe. Most of the dialogues are in Hindi and Bengali given the location, but the Bollywood actors, Hooda and Priyanshu Painyuli, who plays the Bangladeshi drug lord, do captivate the audience with their intensity in delivering these lines. It does show how great this movie could have been, had it not been for all the unnecessary gore and blood splattering.
