Charlie – Malayalam – 10/10 – Amazon Prime Video

I am enveloped in a warm fuzzy quilt, a patchwork one at that. Bright, dull, plain, textured squares. One that brings bits and pieces of people and lives who are brought together by Charlie.

Dulquer has excelled even himself as the charming and elusive Charlie who throws down glitter wherever he goes.. He makes an effort, walks that extra mile!

Expressive Parvathy as Tessa running away from her problems continues to chase a half told story and how. Moving from place to place happy to learn yet missing Charlie by a breath every time.

It’s like a fairy tale, where everything is bright and beautiful, artistic and mysterious. Seems to take on a life as the story unravels.. Makes you wonder if you can think differently and take the story elsewhere.

The actors are all artists, master magician Charlie manages to orchestra for that happy chord. Moving from one place to next, adding a patch, smoothening the next. Creating happiness, yet showing us pain.

The movie takes us through the lanes and by lanes of Kerala through big and small traditions of myriad culture. We see only the best, only the most colourful.

The music is haunting and lilting and oh so perfect.. I wanted to understand the situation better, then at others.. I just wanted to look up into the Brahmand and be lost.. Float on the waves.. Sigh

A film as Bohemian as it gets.. Stay enveloped or choose to peep out.
