Sufiyum Sujatayum (Malayalam) Amazon Prime Video – 7/10
A story about Sujata’s Sufi..the dramatic sound and light so ethereal, unfolds a beautiful story beyond religion, beyond the barriers of speech..love needs only expression!
The scene where the clarinet playing mystic, Ustaad Aboob retorts to the father’s concerns on Love and Jihad is pretty much the central theme though the rest is very well presented wrapped in an aura that leaves one wanting more.
However, the mysterious cemetery, the mosque and the call for prayer may be a little too much for those not fascinated.
The verses and dances to the tune of the clarinet..whirling dervish and kathak is totally a spiritual fusion.
Aditi as Mute Sujata conveys joy and love ..sorrow and frustration, While Jayasurya as Rajeev manages to do even better in his cameo.
Would have loved to see more of Dev Mohan the mystic, Sufi..
Left me wanting though..what happened to the diary and definitely expected more when the plum tree had fruits!
