Marriages are anything but Made In Heaven
Made In Heaven Rating 08/10
Tara Khanna and Karan Mehra are more than just wedding planners. Thanks to their need and greed to make their company work, they convince nervous brides, support upset mothers, violate privacy to dig into the past, awaken righteousness and still lie effortlessly, all in the name of a planning a wedding.
Four Directors, have put together a cast of 170 people! Sensitively created and multi layered.. each episode shows us a different family, varied culture and values. How much each is willing to sacrifice and for what end. Along with the drama of the wedding, what unfolds is the personality of the characters, their family and friends. The insecurities and their secrets. The excellent star cast brings out the best in actors who are a delight to watch. Leaves you wanting to follow them beyond the episode.
Sobhita Dhulipala as Tara Khanna, herself a gold digger who rises from being the bosses secretary to his wife. Stylish and confident in dealing with the upper class society. The subtle difference in her make up in the flashbacks speaks volumes of where she came from.
Not stereotypically gay
Arjun Mathur as Karan Mehra, is perpetually in debt and incidentally gay. Suave and warm, yet not portrayed as the stereotypical gay guy. Witty with his comebacks and independent lifestyle. The flashbacks of being in the closet and discovering he is gay is handled sensitively.
Jim Sarbh as Adil Khanna, the rich Punjabi industrialist with an appreciation of his good life. Kalki Koechlin as Faiza Naqvi is the bestie yet the other woman. The mistress with a guilt! Shashank Arora as Kabir Basrai, the man with the camera ends each episode with the moral which hits a nerve every time! Shivani Raghuvanshi as Jazz the wannabe is an important reminder of our core values. Vinay Pathak as Guptaji, the middle class landlord helps the gay storyline come a full circle by his apologies and acceptance of his tenant.
