The World’s End Movie Review:

This is the final installment of the “Three Flavors Cornetto Trilogy”. The movie has Simon Pegg and Nick Frost again in the lead roles as with the previous two movies of the trilogy. The World’s End has got some great rating and critical reception, but I was hardly impressed by this film. The reason is same as I explained in my review of “Shaun of The Dead”.

For me the storyline was thin and being a comedy movie, The World’s End offered little to laugh. Talking about the technical aspects of this movie, I didn’t found anything wrong or bad anywhere. In fact, everything looks well worked upon. Simon Pegg and other actors have done a decent job. Rosamund Pike plays a cameo and looks effervescent. Pierce Brosnan’s cameo too looks cool. But despite all this, the film was a total disappointment.

The music and background score is fine, yes, just fine. The direction and cinematography are good. The special effects used are of quality and doesn’t give a bad feel to your eyes, the “android robots” are great, in fact, I loved them.

Storyline:

Simon Pegg plays Gary King who is on a mission to fulfill his dream of completing the “Golden Mile” (a bar tour involving 12 bars) in his hometown, Newton Haven with his friends. Something he planned 20 years ago and then missed by just a single bar, “The World’s End”.

Gary meets his four friends who were the part of his teenage gang 20 years ago. Initially, they all were circumspect about this madness, at this juncture of their lives and career. But, after so much insistence by Gary, the gang gets ready to give Golden Mile a shot. Upon arriving in Newton Haven they felt that it is no more their “pretty little happening” town. Some sort of strangeness is prevailing in the environment. The people are not friendly anymore and there’s hardly any known who recognizes them.

Soon the gang discovers an appalling reality that the town has been taken over by some aliens who are converting everyone into android robots. Now, will they be able to complete the Green Mile and reach the last bar, The World’s End this time? Or those robots will get the better of them? I am not going to reveal this and ruin your excitement if you are excited at all. So go ahead watch the movie yourself.

Rating & Verdict:

The film is a box office hit and liked by the majority of the audience as well as critics. The applauded the fact that The World’s End has been a perfect finale to the Three Flavours Cornetto Trilogy. But, I could only give 6/10 to the film. It was bereft of laughter for the most part of it compared to the second installment, Hot Fuzz of this trilogy. Anyways, you can still watch it because you never know you may end up loving this film.
