ZEE5’s latest Hindi Original movie, #TikiTaka released last Friday. While our Saturday was super busy, we took some time off to watch this film. The movie stars talented Bengali actor Parambrata Chattopadhyay, who also happens to be the director of this flick. He is ably supported by sensational, Ritabhari Chakraborty, and the new face Emona Enabulu, who is actually the lead character of Tiki Taka. The film’s name is actually taken from a style of play in football. Although it’s a bit disappointing that there are not many football scenes in the film.

This film is a sports comedy with an underlying message of #CrossCulturalConnection. People following us must be knowing that our focus is always on the movies that cover the theme of #CrossCulturalConnection and #LoveAgainstHatred. Tiki Taka is a feel-good movie that covers the craze of Kolkata’s football scene. So without any delay let’s talk about the plot.

Tiki Taka – Plot

Well, this film has a kind of unrealistic plot and an unbelievable storyline. But as we always say comedies need not satisfy the criteria of logic to satisfy you as a viewer. So much like Lootcase, which too didn’t make much sense logically, Tiki Taka is just another run-of-the-mill stuff in an ever-increasing movie catalog of ZEE5

Kelechi Ajgubi, an African Black man comes to India with a football that is full of drugs. Soon after landing, he sees a totally different and somehow hostile world around him. You must be wondering while we praised this film for promoting humanity, then why are we saying this? Well, that’s the good part of this film. The journey of Kelechi from being a foreigner to a criminal to a star footballer loved by numerous fans is worth watching at least once.

Parambrata Chattopadhyay as Raju, the taxi-driver, and Ritabhari Chakraborty as Bony has kept this film just watchable enough for the audience. The moment when Rau decides to help Kelechi despite knowing the truth is really heart-warming.

Kelechi Ajgubi lands in India eyeing to make enough money to save his mom. He is supposed to deliver drugs to a local drug lord, but the problem is that his life is at stake as the dealer kills everyone. Kelechi somehow manages to escape him and his goons. He accidentally meets Raju & Bony and here starts the comedy of errors. Raju spreads the word that a big football player from Africa is in the city. Upon hearing this rumor soon two of Kolkata’s top football clubs are in line to contract him to play for their team. Kelechi although not being a professional footballer still shows his skills that make him a local hero overnight. The rest of the story is about how he gets the money and how his relationship with Raju and Bony pans out.

Tiki Taka Movie Rating and Verdict

We are rating Tiki Taka 07 out of 10. The film is definitely not a blockbuster but still a decent one time watch stuff. The direction is good, acting is above average, and the music too is good enough for our liking. However, the film had a lot of areas of improvement but with a runtime of 104 minutes only you hardly feel it. So, if you have some free time this weekend, do watch this #GoalMaal flick on India’s biggest OTT platform.
