Rocketry: The Nambi Effect (2022) is a biographical drama film written, directed, and produced by R. Madhavan. Based on the life of an Indian space research organization scientist, Nambi Narayan, who was framed for being a spy and arrested in 1994. Despite being freed later, he continues to fight for justice against the officials who falsely incriminated him.
The film marks Madahvan’s debut as a filmmaker; Srisha Ray and Bijith Bara were responsible for the cinematography and editing, respectively. In October of 2018, it was officially revealed that Rocketry: The Nambi Effect would be released in the coming years. The production of the movie took place over the course of three years because of the COVID-19 epidemic as well as other challenges.

In the early part of this year, on May 19th, Rocketry had its world debut at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival. On the other hand, the movie was shown in theaters for the first time on July 1st. The film met with favorable reviews from reviewers upon its public release, with practically everyone singling out R. Madhavan’s dramatic portrayal in the main character of Dr. Nambi as a particular point of praise. The entire country applauded him for his altruistic goals in producing the film on the long-forgotten scientist.
Rocketry was filmed simultaneously in Hindi, Tamil, and English. The film has been digitally streamed on Amazon Prime Video for Tamil lovers, and Voot is streaming it in Hindi.

Country’s leading English-language daily, The Times of India, has given Rocketry: The Nambi Effect 3.5 out of 5. The newspaper has praised Madhavan’s noble intentions of covering this topic and coming out of his comfort zone.
According to Bollywood Hungama, Madhavan has done a great job of portraying an ISRO genius and they have given the movie 3 out of 5.

Financially, so far, the film has not been too successful. The movie’s budget was about INR 60 Cr, but as of August 25th, 2022, the movie has earned only INR 50 Cr so far.
