Not sure why many people aren’t talking about it but Decoupled on Netflix is so damn good. It’s witty, hilarious and therefore so good. Certainly a must watch if you are looking for something new.

R. Madhavan (Arya Iyer) plays the second-best pulp fiction writer, first is Chetan Bhagat in a hilarious cameo, who is observant (because an author) but brutally honest about everything. Surveen Chawla (Shruti Sharma Iyer) plays a successful businesswoman who is his wife, and they are going through a marriage fallout leading to a divorce, like it’s a love story in reverse. The awkward moments, dark humor, hilarious references like ‘I have seen Parasite’ to a Korean guy who thinks there is some smell in the car. It’s an absolute delight to watch.

Madhavan just rocked the screen and carried the role like a feather in a breeze! He has aged like wine, the older he grows the finer his acting turns out. Decoupled is a very well written and well directed TV show which comes as a breath of fresh air when most new shows try to follow the dark thriller template since that formula has been a success. That being said, it might not be everyone’s cup of tea as the quality of humor is very different from what you would find in any other Indian sitcom show.

I particularly love how Arya tries to hide his ex-gf from his wife because she has become fat below her waist. Also, I loved the scene where he calls the driver and asks him to eat the banana which was part of a stupid art installation.

Surveen looked very pretty and carried off her part very well. I enjoyed Mr. Basu, Guruji, and Mayank too who added to the fun and wit of the plot.

Decoupled is one of the best Indian series ever made. Everything portrayed in the series is so logical and realistic. Once you start watching this TV series, you will get hooked to it!

I give this show 9/10 and I surely recommend watching Decoupled especially with your partner.
