So, I am on the MCU rewatch marathon and just rechecked my favourite movie from their collection, Iron Man – 1. I still remember when I watched this back in 2008 at the cinema. I was blown away by it. Everybody was all about “The Dark knight…The Dark Knight” but even then I preferred this and forced my brothers and friends to give this superhero flick a try. It was the genius, smart, witty, cool, clumsy character of Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) which was creating a new atmosphere for superhero movies.

Iron Man – 1: My Perspective

This was for its time a big change for typical superhero movies and he is the product still being milked today in the MCU. After rewatching it, I will have to say that this movie is indeed dope. It is a funny and intelligently made movie which breaks all the stereotypes of superhero movies. Tony Stark is a highly relatable immature character who doesn’t know his place, which is making his character more of an improvement than a goof. Iron Man – 1 just aggrandize its place with being newer and bolder than offering all the same.

The moments when I saw those Taliban-ish terrorists in the movie for the first time, I was like oh! the same typical shit but when the truth was revealed later in the movie. It made me respect this movie a lot more than anything else at that time. It was a really nice idea to break common stereotypes and show how corrupt the whole system is. How the desire for more power leads no one in any good place. Same as this, there are many points where this movie breaks the common oath taken by Hollywood movies for kids.

Now despite this praise of mine, this doesn’t mean this is some Citizen Kane or 2001 – A Space Odyssey. It has issues in CGI, it has choppy editing at times, the soundtrack is at best average but for the audience, this is meant for… for them it is really dank stuff. It is really worthy for a kid to witness this movie with some fries and shakes, and also for some adults looking for entertainment along with good cans of beer.

Iron Man – 1 movie will always be in my collection of movies for some hot fun-filled summer day. Currently, you can watch this film on Disney+Hotstar.
