TWOM Rating: 8/10 | Streaming on Netflix

Sometimes, the best movie nights are the ones you never planned. I had practically zero expectations from Dhoom Dhaam until Netflix’s short video previews caught my attention. A couple of scenes looked entertaining, and since I have always liked both Yami Gautam and Pratik Gandhi, I decided to give it a chance. Little did I know that I was in for such an enjoyable night!

Directed by Rishab Seth, Dhoom Dhaam follows newlyweds Koyal and Veer, whose wedding night takes an unexpected turn. Released on Netflix on February 14, 2025, the film combines action, comedy, and romance. However, what makes it entertaining isn’t the storyline itself but the characters and the ridiculous situations they find themselves in.

Yami Gautam and Pratik Gandhi Make an Excellent Pair

Pratik Gandhi is probably one of the most believable actors working in Hindi cinema today. His portrayal of Veer feels remarkably ordinary, almost like someone you might know personally. His confusion, nervousness, and reactions to his wife’s unpredictable behavior create some of the film’s funniest moments.

And then there’s Yami Gautam! I’ve admired her for years, but her performance as Koyal gave me another reason to appreciate her acting. She looks fantastic, delivers her dialogue confidently, and completely owns some of the film’s most entertaining sequences.

In fact, Yami has a couple of monologues that reminded me of Kartik Aaryan’s famous monologue sequences. The comparison isn’t about imitation but the energy, delivery, and sheer entertainment of watching an actor take complete control of a lengthy dialogue. Yami brings her own personality to these moments, making them particularly enjoyable.

What I enjoyed most, however, was their chemistry. Pratik’s relatively restrained performance complements Yami’s outspoken personality beautifully. Their arguments feel natural, their reactions are funny, and neither actor needs to try excessively hard to make their relationship entertaining.

The Supporting Cast, Music, and Background Score

A good comedy needs more than two entertaining leads. Eijaz Khan makes an impression as Sathe, bringing a different energy to the proceedings. Even smaller characters contribute to the film’s entertainment value, including Sanaya Pithawalla as Suhana. Her brief scene with Pratik is the icing on the cake, as the two seem like a match made in heaven, except they’re not married to each other!

The music and background score deserve appreciation, too. In fact, the track “How Are You,” which plays early in the film, really sets the tone for what’s to come. It has one of the catchiest dance beats I’ve heard in quite some time. The song even reminded me of the famous “Sadi Gali” from the 2011 film Tanu Weds Manu, bringing back a similar sense of fun and energy.

The music and background score complement the action and comedy without making the film unnecessarily dramatic. The background music particularly adds to the enjoyment of the chase sequences and the increasingly ridiculous situations.

I watched the film late at night, at 2 AM to be precise, on my Lumio ARC 7 projector with my JBL sound system. Perhaps the setup contributed to my enjoyment, but the experience genuinely reminded me of watching a film in a theater. The combination of performances, music, and visual presentation made the entire experience more enjoyable than I had anticipated.

My Two Cents: Sometimes Entertainment Is Enough

Dhoom Dhaam isn’t a film that demands serious interpretation or leaves you contemplating its story for days. Some situations are exaggerated, and the narrative occasionally relies on convenient developments. However, I wasn’t looking for extraordinary storytelling when I started watching it, and the film never gave me a reason to regret my decision.

Its biggest achievement is bringing together two actors whose contrasting personalities make even ordinary conversations entertaining. Yami’s confidence, Pratik’s natural reactions, and the supporting cast keep the experience enjoyable.

I started watching Dhoom Dhaam because a couple of Netflix previews looked promising. I finished it feeling as though I’d enjoyed an unexpectedly entertaining theatrical experience from the comfort of my home. Sometimes, that’s precisely what I want from cinema.
