Six years ago, when Stree first took the theaters by storm, I shared my thoughts in an article titled “Two Explanations of Stree Movie’s Climax.” That piece connected with many of you, and it even stayed at the top of Google searches for a good while. In that article, I dug into the ambiguity surrounding Shraddha Kapoor’s character—was she Stree, or was she something else entirely? I also explored the movie’s open-ended climax, which left us all scratching our heads and speculating about what it all meant.
Fast forward seven years, and here we are with Stree Part 2, also known as “Sarkate Ka Atank.” Finally, we get the answers we’ve been waiting for. In this article, I’m going to break down what we now know about Shraddha Kapoor’s character and reveal who she truly is.

The Revelation: Shraddha Kapoor’s True Identity
In Stree Part 2, we learn that Shraddha Kapoor’s character is not just any ordinary person—she’s the daughter of the original Stree from Chanderi. She witnessed her parents being brutally burned alive by some cruel men, and that trauma set her on a mission: to free her mother’s spirit. But to do that, she needed to find someone pure-hearted and capable of true love, which she eventually found in Vicky, played by Rajkummar Rao.
The Power Within: Merging with Stree
After defeating Stree, Shraddha’s character takes things a step further. She doesn’t just move on—she absorbs Stree’s power by merging Stree’s braid with her own, making herself even more formidable. Knowing that Sarkate’s arrival is imminent, she strengthens herself further through black magic. When the time comes, she returns to Vicky in Chanderi, ready to face whatever new challenges lie ahead.
Inheriting the Legacy: Shraddha as Stree
Now, here’s where things get even more interesting. As I speculated in my 2018 article, both possibilities I mentioned—Shraddha Kapoor either helping to defeat Stree or actually being Stree herself—turn out to be true in their own ways. Shraddha Kapoor’s character is a continuation of the Stree legacy. She may not be the original Stree, but she’s carrying on that spirit, with her own unique motivations and powers.
Yes, it’s fair to say that Shraddha Kapoor is Stree, too. She’s inherited the title and the power, making her a worthy successor to the original. The title “Stree” isn’t just about one entity; it’s about a legacy, passed down and transformed, yet still rooted in the same essence.
