The Age of Adaline Movie Review:

The Age of Adaline has a wonderful story, great camera work and screenplay. From the start to the last scene of the movie you feel engrossed in it. I will not talk about the scientific reason or explanation of what happened to “Adaline Bowman”, as it is futile. All I can say and write about The Age of Adaline is that it is a well-directed film and all the characters have done full justice to their roles. You won’t find anyone without a “purpose” in the movie. Such is the way Lee Toland Krieger has directed The Age of Adaline.

The story revolves around “Blake Lively” but it is well supported by all the characters in the movie. I give full credit to the director for choosing Blake and Michiel as lead characters. Harrison Ford has been at his best as he normally is in every movie. Now talking about the story line, The Age of Adaline is a story of a young woman named “Adaline Bowman” who because of an accident in 1935, at the age of 29 develops a phenomenon in her genes due to which she “stops ageing”…. Well talking of age you would feel “anyone in this world would love to stop ageing and being young forever, especially women”. But, here comes our “Adaline Bowman” a beautiful woman (by every stretch of imagination possible). It is said of her “All these years she’s lived, but she’s never had a life…” rightly so after enjoying her “forever young” fate she gets to a position in life where she thinks of “stop running” from life.

She saw her husband, family, dogs, friends die and the world change year after year….. But, what happened to her life? She was as it is as she was. She had to run from this cruel world for her safety, she even abandoned her daughter to live in pace. All these measures proves futile as finally she falls in love with a young man (Michiel Huisman), who turns out to be the son of a man (Harrison Ford) whom she loved some 4 decades back.. And left because of her inability to fulfill that relationship. One can truly feel the pain of Adaline… I loved the music of the movie it is awesome and actually gives  meaning to the movie.

Characters to watch out in The Age of Adaline:

Blake Lively: Up until yesterday I had no knowledge of who this girl is? But, I fell in love with her acting “prowess” the very first time I saw her on screen…She has literally lived through the ages on the screen in this movie. She looked good in 1920s, 30s, 40s …and so on till 2014 when the movie ends. I would give her 10/10 for acting as well as looks with all those emotions and her “trade mark” smile she is the “life” of “The Age of Adaline”.

Harrison Ford: His role can be seen as “defining cameo” in the movie. Mr. Ford has given his everything in those scenes as he could have. His expressions are awesome and so does his acting as you would expect from him. It was his role that gave the movie finishing touch…

My Rating & Verdict of The Age of Adaline:

I gave a 9 out of 10 to The Age of Adaline. Mainly because of its music and story line. The acting too is superb. At some moment or other you will feel yourself at “Adaline’s place and wonder what would you have lived through had it happen to you?” Overall this movie deserves a 9. If you like romantic movies and you believe love is powerful, it’s a movie you must watch. The Age of Adaline portrays the love in various forms and ways. You will certainly enjoy it.

Three Kings – Movie Review

Movie: Three Kings (1999)

Country of Origin: U.S.A

Language: English, Arabic (Few Dialogues Only)

Genre: Action, Adventure, Comedy, War

Three Kings Movie Review:

Three Kings is set in 1991 Iraq after the end of Gulf War-1. It has very competently portrayed the situation after the end of Gulf War-1 when the “uprising” takes place against the rule of Saddam Hussein in southern Iraq. The movie shows how after the end of the war nobody including USA was caring about the people who were brutally suppressed, looted, tortured, and killed by the Iraqi army. All everyone was caring about was to get their hands on the “gold” that Saddam’s Army has looted from the Kuwaitis. Even the media which is supposed to be “neutral and unbiased” was thinking of getting more and more stories and not helping the people.

Three Kings gives an idea about the political situation of Iraq during that time and how the “inconsistent” US foreign policy has affected the lives of millions of people both “pro-Saddam and anti-Saddam”. The screenplay is very good and the locations filmed for Three Kings look genuine and wonderful. The story has a comical way too and it really keeps you interested. The actors have performed really well and it can be said everyone has done justice to their roles. The background music is also good but can not described as great like in many other “war” themed movies.

Characters to watch out in Three Kings:

Archie Gates (George Clooney): Well Mr. Clooney is Mr. Clooney you can’t describe him well enough. Throughout the movie it is his character that has a “resounding” presence on-screen. He has taken the limelight away from other co-stars.

Conrad Vig (Spike Jonze): Well, he is shown as an idiotic but nice at heart person. His only wish is to go back to US and earn a decent living there. He is also responsible for the comedy element in the film. But, in the end after getting shot he dies with a last wish of getting buried in a sacred place. His fellow companions fulfills his last wish.

My Rating of Three Kings:

I have rated this film 8 out of 10. The main reason for this is that it is not a one-sided story telling. The film shows both the sides of the coin. It is especially clear in the character of “Said” while torturing “Troy” speak many things that hit our brains. The character of TV reporter Adriana Cruz is also very though provoking and gives an insight of how media handles things. specially when in the end she says “why this war happened in the first place she doesn’t still understand it” sums up all. Although it can’t be denied that Three Kings at some places exaggerated many things, but it is very much expected as it is a commercial cinema.

My Verdict of this Film:

If you are looking to see some action packed drama movie that has comedy as well as emotional punch in it then Three Kings is a must watch. In the end, you will also get to know how things can be made better by properly managing the “conflicts” anywhere in this planet.

The Man from U.N.C.L.E – Movie Review

Movie: The Man from U.N.C.L.E

Year: 2015

Country of Origin: U.S.A

Language: English, Russian (Few Dialogues only)

Genre: Action, Adventure, Comedy, History

The Man From U.N.C.L.E Movie Review:

After more than a month it is screened in my city. I, finally watched “The Man from U.N.C.L.E” last Monday. I went to see this movie after comparing it with other movies that are being screened nowadays in my city like “Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation, Hitman: Agent 47, The Transported Refueled, and Fantastic Four. And I am saying happily now that I took the right decision. I am a big “movie buff” and rarely miss any good Hollywood flick. For me, in a movie three elements are vital namely Music, Acting and Story line. Now talking of U.N.C.L.E one can safely say this movie scores in all aforementioned departments. The start of the movie itself is very nice and for me it sets the tone of what we are going to experience in next 2 hours. The car chasing scene at the start of the movie is really a delight to watch.

There are few other action scenes too that are good to watch. Talking of the cast you can say it’s “Perfecto”…! I can’t imagine anybody else in place of “Henry Cavill, Armie Hammer and Alicia Vikander”. These three are the heart of this movie. The supporting cast too is well picked and they all have given their best. If, I have to judge this movie solely on its story line then it would be little tough for me to applaud this movie as it has an ordinary story. But when we put, the acting, music, cinematography, and story-line together this movie without a doubt becomes a treat to watch. Talking of the dresses and cars used in the movie, it gives you a very ‘authentic’ feeling of the 1960s. The music of the movie is really one of the best I have noticed in recent times. I found the full soundtrack of “The Man from U.N.C.L.E” on You Tube and really enjoyed it. One thing that disappointed me about this movie is it’s end. After watching the movies I felt as if the “inflated balloon just busted” without any sound. The movie started well and paced well in the middle but, somehow towards the end it lost its charm. What I am trying to say is that “the end” could have  been more appealing and exciting rather dull that it is. Anyway we can forgive Guy Ritchie for this as overall he has given us a good movie.

My Favorite Characters of The Man From U.N.C.L.E:

Armie Hammer (Ilya Kuryakin): Well, to be true I never heard of this guy before this movie. But, after seeing his performance in this movie I have become a huge fan of him. More because of his look and “Russian English Accent” than his performance in The Man from U.N.C.L.E. He is portrayed as a tough Russian KGB agent who only knows one way of doing things and that is “through the use of power”. His romance with Miss Vikander (Gabi) and his never-ending tussle with Henry Cavill (Napoleon Solo) is a treat to watch. For me he took it away from our Superman Mr. Cavill.

Alicia Vikander (Gaby Teller): I saw her first in “Seventh Son” and felt that she is a talented actress who has a lot to offer to us and after seeing her performance in this movie I am quite satisfied with her progress. Alicia looks very genuine in her approach towards the role of Gaby. Her character is very written and she has done full justice to it.

The Man from U.N.C.L.E
              The Man from U.N.C.L.E – A Star Studded Affair…

My Rating of The Man from U.N.C.L.E:

I gave 9 out of 10 to The Man from U.N.C.L.E. Mainly because of the fact that compared to the films that are running nowadays in theaters it is very refreshing and makes you happy. And overall it is a good to watch movie with its 1960s Cold War era theme and some awesome acting by the actors. On the top of everything the “Music” of “The Man from U.N.C.L.E” is very pleasing to ears.

My Verdict of The Man from U.N.C.L.E:

If you are looking to see some “spy” based comic movie then go for The Man from U.N.C.L.E. It is a very well-balanced package with occasional pieces of “laughter” and “thrilling action”. Above all, whosoever loves the US-Russian rivalry of Cold War Era will surely love this movie like I did.
