Killing Me Softly Movie Review:

From somewhere I learnt about this movie and decided to see it and now I am writing a review of it. To be frank I am not at all impressed with this film. It lacked in many departments except “visual representation of sex” between the two lead characters. Killing Me Softly is an erotic thriller that doesn’t appeal at all to me. It is based on the novel of the same name by Nicci French with many changes. The story is okay but the execution is not that great. Now lets discuss about the plot of Killing Me Softly, Alice is an American who works in London and lives with Jake. Her life is very nice and she is happy with all she has, including Jake. One day Alice meets a “MYSTERIOUS” man (Adam) and goes with him to his home (which later turned out his sister’s). They make love there and after that Alice leaves only to come back next day again. She kind of gets fascinated by him and decides to leave Jack for him. Later on Alice and Adam gets married to each other. Things get a big turn when Alice starts getting letters from a stranger with weird things related to Adam.

Out of fear as wells as curiosity Alice tires to investigate about those letters only to find out that Adam has a “secret” past that involves many women. The rest is something you must find yourself if you decide to watch Killing Me Softly. The film ends when Alice finds out that Deborah (Adam’s sister) hates any woman who comes close to his brother because they had an “incestuous” relationship when they were young.

My Verdict & Rating of Killing Me Softly:

I rated Killing me softly 5/10. The reason is I didn’t like the story although the acting is good and Joseph Fiennes and Heather Graham have performed well. One “appreciable” aspect of Killing Me Softly was its background score that I thoroughly enjoyed. I am embedding the soundtrack playlist below my review for you all to enjoy and I am sure you will love it. Overall, I would suggest to avoid this film unless you don’t have anything better than this. But, on the other hand giving the fact that this is not a typical erotic thriller there is a chance that many people might like it too much. Because it has some good quality acting by the lead stars as well as some heart pounding steamy scenes. Now the ball is in your court to decide….! See you all till my next review.

Year – 2008

Country of Origin – USA

Genre – Comedy

Zohan Review:

Whenever there is a movie about Israel and Palestinian conflict all one could imagine is a serious drama full of emotions and hatred for each other. But, You Don’t Mess With The Zohan is a totally different one from the established norms when it comes to movies featuring this “eternal” conflict on the big screen. It is a great to watch comedy stuff which is of course, very nonsensical and absurd. The film features Adam Sandler in the main role of Zohan (an Israeli combat commando) who is without doubt the best in the world. With Adam Sandler in a movie your expectations go so much high and one always expect a good quality comedy and humorous stuff from him. And, Adam hardly fails to deceive us. In this movie too he has been at his best. Zohan is a story of a guy who is the best in “killing” business and highly valued by his country. But, deep down in his heart he has another dream to fulfill. Zohan wants to be a “Hairstylist” and tells his parents about his will to leave the army and going to America to become a great hairstylist. One day while fighting his nemesis Phantom (a Palestinian militant) Zohan fakes his own death and secretly leaves the country for New York.

In New York, Zohan completely changes his get-up and tries to get a job at a salon. After many attempts he finally gets a job at a struggling salon owned by a young Palestinian woman named Dalia (Emmanuelle Sophie Anne Chriqui)Slowly Zohan makes a huge fan base of his and the salon starts getting huge customers. Everything is going well in Zohan’s life until one day someone recognizes him and informs Phantom about him being alive. Now what will he do? That’s the stuff you guys need to find out yourself..! The film ends on a peaceful note when Phantom and Zohan fights the enemies of “peace” together and the Israeli and Palestinian communities of New York accepts each other’s existence amicably.

My Verdict & Rating of The Movie:

I have rated this film 7/10, I could have given it a better rating had it been a little short in length. The movie drags for about 2 hours which is a bit too much keeping in mind that it don’t really have a significant story. Still it is a nice movie to watch and if you too love seeing Adam Sandler as much as I do then you can’t miss this film. The film has many ‘sarcastic” scenes and dialogues that defines the Israeli-Palestinian relations. Zohan gives an important “message” to the world that in the fight of two neighbors the third always benefits. This movie also gives a solution to the conflict and that is to live in peace “accepting each other right to exist”. In my view one should watch this movie for some awesome acting by Adam  Sandler and the rest of the cast.

Zombieland Review:

Before writing anything else I want to tell you all that I am not at all a fan of “Zombie” movies. But, the presence of Jesse Eisenberg in this film made me watch it and now after watching I really felt to write a review of Zombieland. The movie is just a pure non sense entertainer throughout. Zombieland is a story of four people who are trying to escape the zombies after a plague turned U.S.A into a Zombieland. The film has subtle taste of humor. There are many instances where you would laugh unconsciously.  Ruben Fleischer has directed Zombieland in a fine way so as to give you the best of “horror comedy”. Columbus (Jesse Eisenberg) is a student who is left alone in his place after the virus plagued the area. The only reason he did manage to escape the virus was by following his “RULES”… I will not say much about his rules as this will kill your excitement of watching this movie. He meets a man rather a “tough man” named Tallahassee (Woody Harrelson). There’s something peculiar about Tallahassee and that is he loves killing zombies. Columbus tells him that he is going to his hometown in Ohio to see, if his parents are still alive. He asks Tallahassee to give him a ride till Ohio. Tallahassee takes him into his Escalade and gives tells Columbus that he wants to eat “Twinkies” and for that he can take any risk. Later on, both meets a girl, who along with her little sister cheats them and took their Cadillac Escalade.

Zombieland Review
Columbus attacked by a Zombie…!

After being cheated they find a better vehicle, a Hummer H2 loaded with weapons. Again the duo encounters the two girls and once more they make a fool of them. This time though the sisters decide to travel with them in the Hummer H2. During the drive the four becomes friendly with each other and Columbus feels attracted to Wichita (Emma Stone). All four of them reaches Los Angeles and take shelter in Bill Murray’s mansion. Suddenly, Bill Murray comes up and that too in a zombie get up. He tells Tallahassee and Wichita that zombies don’t attack their lookalikes, so he too made his get up like that of a zombie. Bill tries to do a prank with Columbus, but he out of fear kills him. After this they throw away the body of Bill out of the mansion and have some fun playing games together. The next day Wichita alongside her sister Little Rock left the mansion for Pacific Playland. At the Pacific Playland the sisters get attacked by a big group of zombies. They were about to be becoming the prey of zombies till Columbus along with Tallahassee arrives to save them. The movie ends here after they kill all the zombies and decided to remain together.

My Favorite Characters in Zombieland:

Jesse Eisenberg as Columbus Ohio: Well, talking about Jesse I would say that I am a little biased, of course in his favor. I am such a huge fan of this guy that it’s very difficult to me to say anything negative for him. Jesse as Columbus in Zombieland is rocking. You always feel that from where this guy bring so much humour without actually showing it on his face? The whole movie has some awesome “one liners” by Columbus that anyone would love to laugh about. Jesse has given his best in Zombieland as he quite often do in every role he play. For me he was the main artist for Zombieland who carried the whole film over his shoulders.

The others too have done a fair job specially Woody Harrelson as Tallahassee. Bill Murray’s cameo in the film looked a bit odd, but still it was very much tolerable at that moment of time.

Zombieland Movie Review
Wichita, Little Rock, Tallahassee, & Columbus all together…

My Verdict & Rating of Zombieland:

I rated Zombieland 9/10 because of the entertaining package that this film is. Not a single minute you will feel boring while watching Zombieland. There are only four major characters in the movie and it has some wonderful laughing stuff. The music too is very rocking. I would recommend it to anyone who loves to see some good quality comedy stuff. Although, I would like to mention that the film does contain some cannibalistic scenes which some people might not like. All in all a good movie to watch on weekend when you have free time like I do always have…!

Welcome To Me – Movie Review

Welcome To Me Movie Review:

Every now and then you come across a movie that appeal to your senses and make you think about it, what if this happen to me or with someone related to me? Welcome to Me is one such movie. It is one of those films which are heavily “centred” around a single character.

Welcome to Me is a story of a single woman named Alice Klieg who is living a normal life until one day  she finds out that she has become a millionaire after winning a lottery. But, Alice’s normal life is not that “normal” she is a “mentally ill” person who is undergoing a therapy. Soon after winning the lottery Alice leaves her small house and shifts to a casino hotel along with her best friend Gina Selway (Linda Cardellini).

She also quits her therapy which made her therapist angry with her. Now Alice meets Gabe Ruskin on a live TV show which she was attending as an audience. Gabe’s brother Rich Ruskin is the co-owner of the studio and he too meets Alice after that show. Alice while in a meeting with the Ruskin brothers and their team tells them about her wish to have her own TV show hosted by herself . Initially they are a bit hesitant and clueless about whether to say yes to her or no, but after she signs a $15 million cheque for them they agree to her proposal. Alice’s only unique wish was to have an entry in the show while sitting in a “SWAN BOAT”.

Welcome To Me
Alice in a “Swan Boat”.

Alice’s unique show named “Welcome to Me” takes off in a very unpleasing manner. The show has nothing but Alice telling about her life and bad experiences to the audience that too in 2 hour-long episodes. Everyone in the studio is furious with her but Rich keeping in mind the “financial” gain that Alice can provide to him and his studio keeps supporting her.

Slowly, Alice becomes a household name in the area and after meeting a fan she again signs a huge amount to have her “set” upgraded to look like that of Oprah Winfrey Show. She also makes her show 5 days a week. Suddenly, everything starts going excellent in Alice’s life except that through her show is making too many fans and admirers, but losing her near and dear ones in real life.

One day on the show during a cooking segment Alice meets an accident in which she gets second degree burns. Now she is in hospital and even her best friend Gina leaves her because of her “unsympathetic” attitude. Alice’s world is turned upside down and she goes into deep depression. Even Rich stops supporting her because of the lawsuits filed by the people of whom she made fun on her show.

Somehow, Alice gets her senses back and now wants to redeem her of all the things she did to her loved ones and other people. Alice asks Rich to arrange a one “FINAL” episode of her show Welcome to Me. In her last TV appearance on her show Alice thanks all the people who supported her in real life. She also asks forgiveness from everyone whom she had hurt.

In a generous gesture of friendship and love towards Gina she gifts her a $7 million cheque live on TV. This is all she had left of her total fortune of $86 million. Gina accepts it gladly and the two hug each other. In the last scene Alice is seen coming back to her old house along with Gabe but, she asks him to go back telling that she is ok now and he need not to bother for her.

What to watch in Welcome to Me:

Kristen Wiig and that’s it, she is the focal point of this movie and in my view she has literally lived through her character of Alice Klieg. Her acting is something special which anyone would love to see.

Her expressions are so powerful that at times it feels as if you will cry for her misery. The storyline of Welcome to Me is little out of the box and the movie is directed really well by Shira Piven. The music too is fine enough not to disappoint you.

My Rating and Verdict of Welcome to Me:

I rated Welcome to Me 7 out of 10, mainly because of some awesome acting by Kristen Wiig and its unique storyline. Welcome to Me is a comedy movie, but while watching don’t expect lots of laughter as the movie has some intense drama with dark humor.

My suggestion to all of you is watch Welcome to Me only if you are a fan and admirer of cinema in all forms. Those who are looking to watch  some “general entertainment” please stay away from this one as it will make you feel uneasy about it.
