Zombieland Review:

Before writing anything else I want to tell you all that I am not at all a fan of “Zombie” movies. But, the presence of Jesse Eisenberg in this film made me watch it and now after watching I really felt to write a review of Zombieland. The movie is just a pure non sense entertainer throughout. Zombieland is a story of four people who are trying to escape the zombies after a plague turned U.S.A into a Zombieland. The film has subtle taste of humor. There are many instances where you would laugh unconsciously.  Ruben Fleischer has directed Zombieland in a fine way so as to give you the best of “horror comedy”. Columbus (Jesse Eisenberg) is a student who is left alone in his place after the virus plagued the area. The only reason he did manage to escape the virus was by following his “RULES”… I will not say much about his rules as this will kill your excitement of watching this movie. He meets a man rather a “tough man” named Tallahassee (Woody Harrelson). There’s something peculiar about Tallahassee and that is he loves killing zombies. Columbus tells him that he is going to his hometown in Ohio to see, if his parents are still alive. He asks Tallahassee to give him a ride till Ohio. Tallahassee takes him into his Escalade and gives tells Columbus that he wants to eat “Twinkies” and for that he can take any risk. Later on, both meets a girl, who along with her little sister cheats them and took their Cadillac Escalade.

Zombieland Review
Columbus attacked by a Zombie…!

After being cheated they find a better vehicle, a Hummer H2 loaded with weapons. Again the duo encounters the two girls and once more they make a fool of them. This time though the sisters decide to travel with them in the Hummer H2. During the drive the four becomes friendly with each other and Columbus feels attracted to Wichita (Emma Stone). All four of them reaches Los Angeles and take shelter in Bill Murray’s mansion. Suddenly, Bill Murray comes up and that too in a zombie get up. He tells Tallahassee and Wichita that zombies don’t attack their lookalikes, so he too made his get up like that of a zombie. Bill tries to do a prank with Columbus, but he out of fear kills him. After this they throw away the body of Bill out of the mansion and have some fun playing games together. The next day Wichita alongside her sister Little Rock left the mansion for Pacific Playland. At the Pacific Playland the sisters get attacked by a big group of zombies. They were about to be becoming the prey of zombies till Columbus along with Tallahassee arrives to save them. The movie ends here after they kill all the zombies and decided to remain together.

Tallahassee showing his “ZOMBIE” killing skills to Columbus…

My Favorite Characters in Zombieland:

Jesse Eisenberg as Columbus Ohio: Well, talking about Jesse I would say that I am a little biased, of course in his favor. I am such a huge fan of this guy that it’s very difficult to me to say anything negative for him. Jesse as Columbus in Zombieland is rocking. You always feel that from where this guy bring so much humour without actually showing it on his face? The whole movie has some awesome “one liners” by Columbus that anyone would love to laugh about. Jesse has given his best in Zombieland as he quite often do in every role he play. For me he was the main artist for Zombieland who carried the whole film over his shoulders.

The others too have done a fair job specially Woody Harrelson as Tallahassee. Bill Murray’s cameo in the film looked a bit odd, but still it was very much tolerable at that moment of time.

Zombieland Movie Review
Wichita, Little Rock, Tallahassee, & Columbus all together…

My Verdict & Rating of Zombieland:

I rated Zombieland 9/10 because of the entertaining package that this film is. Not a single minute you will feel boring while watching Zombieland. There are only four major characters in the movie and it has some wonderful laughing stuff. The music too is very rocking. I would recommend it to anyone who loves to see some good quality comedy stuff. Although, I would like to mention that the film does contain some cannibalistic scenes which some people might not like. All in all a good movie to watch on weekend when you have free time like I do always have…!

Welcome To Me – Movie Review

Movie: Welcome To Me                      Year: 2014

Genre: Drama, Comedy

Welcome To Me Movie Review:

Every now and then you come across a movie that appeal to your senses and make you think about it, what if this happen to me or with someone related to me? Welcome to Me is one such movie. It is one of those films which are heavily “centred” around a single character.

Welcome to Me is a story of a single woman named Alice Klieg who is living a normal life until one day  she finds out that she has become a millionaire after winning a lottery. But, Alice’s normal life is not that “normal” she is a “mentally ill” person who is undergoing a therapy. Soon after winning the lottery Alice leaves her small house and shifts to a casino hotel along with her best friend Gina Selway (Linda Cardellini).

She also quits her therapy which made her therapist angry with her. Now Alice meets Gabe Ruskin on a live TV show which she was attending as an audience. Gabe’s brother Rich Ruskin is the co-owner of the studio and he too meets Alice after that show. Alice while in a meeting with the Ruskin brothers and their team tells them about her wish to have her own TV show hosted by herself . Initially they are a bit hesitant and clueless about whether to say yes to her or no, but after she signs a $15 million cheque for them they agree to her proposal. Alice’s only unique wish was to have an entry in the show while sitting in a “SWAN BOAT”.

Welcome To Me
Alice in a “Swan Boat”.

Alice’s unique show named “Welcome to Me” takes off in a very unpleasing manner. The show has nothing but Alice telling about her life and bad experiences to the audience that too in 2 hour-long episodes. Everyone in the studio is furious with her but Rich keeping in mind the “financial” gain that Alice can provide to him and his studio keeps supporting her.

Slowly, Alice becomes a household name in the area and after meeting a fan she again signs a huge amount to have her “set” upgraded to look like that of Oprah Winfrey Show. She also makes her show 5 days a week. Suddenly, everything starts going excellent in Alice’s life except that through her show is making too many fans and admirers, but losing her near and dear ones in real life.

One day on the show during a cooking segment Alice meets an accident in which she gets second degree burns. Now she is in hospital and even her best friend Gina leaves her because of her “unsympathetic” attitude. Alice’s world is turned upside down and she goes into deep depression. Even Rich stops supporting her because of the lawsuits filed by the people of whom she made fun on her show.

Somehow, Alice gets her senses back and now wants to redeem her of all the things she did to her loved ones and other people. Alice asks Rich to arrange a one “FINAL” episode of her show Welcome to Me. In her last TV appearance on her show Alice thanks all the people who supported her in real life. She also asks forgiveness from everyone whom she had hurt.

In a generous gesture of friendship and love towards Gina she gifts her a $7 million cheque live on TV. This is all she had left of her total fortune of $86 million. Gina accepts it gladly and the two hug each other. In the last scene Alice is seen coming back to her old house along with Gabe but, she asks him to go back telling that she is ok now and he need not to bother for her.

What to watch in Welcome to Me:

Kristen Wiig and that’s it, she is the focal point of this movie and in my view she has literally lived through her character of Alice Klieg. Her acting is something special which anyone would love to see.

Her expressions are so powerful that at times it feels as if you will cry for her misery. The storyline of Welcome to Me is little out of the box and the movie is directed really well by Shira Piven. The music too is fine enough not to disappoint you.

My Rating and Verdict of Welcome to Me:

I rated Welcome to Me 7 out of 10, mainly because of some awesome acting by Kristen Wiig and its unique storyline. Welcome to Me is a comedy movie, but while watching don’t expect lots of laughter as the movie has some intense drama with dark humor.

My suggestion to all of you is watch Welcome to Me only if you are a fan and admirer of cinema in all forms. Those who are looking to watch  some “general entertainment” please stay away from this one as it will make you feel uneasy about it.

Meet Bill – Movie Review

Movie: Meet Bill

Year: 2007

Country of Origin: U.S.A

Language: English

Genre: Drama, Comedy

6.3/10 – IMDB     21% Rotten Tomatoes    30% Metacritic

I watched this film last night “without” any expectations and now I am writing a review of Meet Bill. This is a typical movie a person who seems to have everything in life, except that inside his heart he is not really happy with anything. Aaron Eckhart is playing Bill a middle-aged man who is married to a beautiful and rich woman. He is working on a “needlessly created” position in a bank which is owned by his father-in-law. Here starts Bill’s misery, feeling himself as a failed person he is planning to start his own business. Bill meets Jane and Jim and discusses with them the proposal of buying a “doughnut” franchise. But, his plan seems to fall apart as he finds about his wife’s infidelity. This makes Bill really angry and he decided to attack Chip Johnson (Timothy Olyphant) a celebrity with whom his wife his cheating him. As Chip is a media celebrity and popular local TV host, the attack on him lands Bill in a very precarious situation where he becomes a joke for the whole city. Everything seems lost for Bill even his wife as well as his dream of having a doughnut franchise.

Here’s comes a kid (Logan Lerman) in the picture, he is supposed to stay with Bill as part of a “mentoring” program of which Bill’s bank and his family are a part of. The kid (whose name is not mentioned in the movie for reasons of course unknown) is a teenager who is looking for opportunities to have fun. But, for Bill he proves to be a life changing person to meet. Kid assures Bill that if he change himself and tries to look cool he can get his wife back. He even suggests Bill to make Jess (Elizabeth Banks) fell jealous by having relationship with other woman/girl. Now comes Lucy (Jessica Alba) who is a young girl working in a mall. As Bill requires his wife to meet with Jane and Jim for the doughnut franchise deal he takes Lucy with himself as his wife to them. Somehow, things get back to normal between Bill and Jess and in the end of the movie she agrees to his proposal of having a franchise. She even goes to Jane and Jim for finalising the deal. Here’s comes a twist, Bill meets Jess at Jane and Jim’s office and tells her that he came to say no to them for the deal. But, he feels happy that Jess has come herself for the deal. As they finalize the deal and gets the franchise Bill tells Jess to take this herself as he is not interested anymore. He leaves Jess there and later on Bill is seen meeting The Kid in his school and saying goodbye to him. What we can assume is that Bill went on a journey to explore himself and life after been living a frustrated life for many years.

Aaron Eckhart as Bill has done a good job in Meet Bill. All the supporting characters too have done a decent work. As the movie is comedy based one expects a lot of laughter in it, but unfortunately there’s nothing much to laugh about in Meet Bill except on few places. So, more or less it is more of a drama comedy movie. The storyline is not that strong it’s a normal one. Every now and then we meet people in our lives who are not really satisfied with their lives and Bill too is one of them. Although, at places you feel the misery of Bill’s character and feels sad for him. The music of this film is okay and there’s nothing much about it.

Meet Bill
Jane and Jim

Having read the above things you guys must have guessed that I am not really impressed by this movie and that’s the reason I have rated Meet Bill only 6 out of 10. I really felt that the storyline and the plot was a bit weak. Meet Bill could have been a serious drama movie or a pure comedy. But, all I can feel is that it is something “between” those two. Anyways, if you really love movies and have a passion for cinema then watch this one too, it is not that bad. After all it was premiered in Toronto Film Festival in 2007.

Superfast – Movie Review

Movie: Superfast

Year: 2015

Country of Origin: U.S.A

Languages: English (Mainly) Spanish (Some Dialogues)

Genre: Comedy

Superfast Movie Review:

Superfast is a spoof movie by directed by Jason Friedberg, Aaron Seltzer. It is based on the Fast & Furious Movie Series. If you haven’t watch Fast & Furious then please don’t watch this movie as it’s humor will go over your head. As for those who have watched Fast & Furious series Superfast movie is surely going to entertain them to the fullest. Superfast has got some really terrible reviews and poor rankings. In my view for once keep all those rankings and reviews out of your mind and simply watch this parody film. It really has some serious laughter in it for you. All the characters are really picked very well and there getup as well as body language is looking extremely well. As for the story-line there’s nothing much to talk about, but still the movie has a cute little story. Undercover agent Lucas White is on a mission to infiltrate the LA’s infamous illegal street racers gang. The gang is headed by Vin Serento who alongside Lucas (after he successfully infiltrates their gang) makes a “dangerous” plan of robbing LA’s mafia kingpin Juan Carlos de la Sol. The rest is full of comic events, some odd characters and lots of fun. In the end of movie Lucas gives a ditch to his department and joins Serento’s gang forever.

My Verdict & Rating of Superfast Movie:

I have rated Superfast Movie a flat 10 out of 10. The reason is quite simple, and that is Superfast is full of idiotic comedy which is a treat to watch. The music, cars used in the movie, different intresting locations and a hilarious climax makes Superfast a must watch parody movie. From acting point of view I liked Dale PavinskiAlex Ashbaugh and Omar Chaparro‘s acting too much. But, the most hilarious character for me was of Dio Johnson as Detective Johnson he is really looking like Dwayne Johnson and his acting is absolutely amazing. His way of walking and talking is resembling so much like Dwayne Johnson. It made laugh too much whenever Dio Johnson was on screen doing his funny stuff. Conclusion, Superfast Movie is a must watch for you… Recommended by me. Stay tuned for more reviews…….!
